On 18th May, 2018, upon the 14th birthday of the founding of Anqing Foreign Language School, the Opera House of Anqing Foreign Language School’s pavilion of the east campus observed the grand opening of the 4th Session International Education Exchange Seminar in Anqing City. In attendance were Deputy Director General Chen Yaling with Municipal Education& Sports Bureau, Section Chief Fang Min with the Basic Education Section, Director Zhang Ying with the Foreign Affairs Office of Anqing municipal government, Director Luo Yan with Municipal Teaching& Research Office, school leaders in charge of international exchange from Anqing No. 2 Middle School, No.1 Middle School of Anqing Petrol Chemical Works of China, Anqing No.7 Middle School, Tian Jiabing Middle School, Korean Professors Zhao Chenghui, Piao Nangui, German Professor Witte and other foreign teachers from Hefei College, Director Yan and foreign teacher Madam Theresa from the attached middle school of Anhui Normal University in addition to foreign teacher Kenza from Anqing Normal University. Anqing Foreign Language School’s President Madam Huang Wenli delivered the opening speech in which she expressed her thanks to all the distinguished guests. Madam President hoped that this exchange seminar would facilitate the promotion and development of international education in Anqing Foreign Language School and Anqing City.
First of all, Anqing Foreign Language School’s foreign teacher Khim showcased a 30-minute high school oral English class. His teaching style was humorous and students fully trained and displayed their oral competence.
After the demonstration class, Director Luo Yan with Municipal Teaching& Research Office reviewed Khim’s oral class. She pointed out several advantages of this lesson and fully affirmed the teaching effect.
Then, American foreign teacher Theresa from the attached middle school of Anhui Normal University and German foreign teacher from Hefei College commented on this open class and put forward plenty of precious teaching advice for teacher Khim as well.
Second of all, Canadian foreign teacher Steven, who taught spoken English in Anqing Foreign Language School 12 years ago, shared with us his unforgettable feelings and experience of teaching and life in Anqing Foreign Language School. More noticeably, student Liu Xiaoyu from the study-abroad class in Grade 10 acted as Steven’s interpreter on site.
Third of all, Director Xu Zuitai with the International Department introduced the international education and exchange status of Anqing Foreign Language School, focusing on foreign teachers’ education teaching, Anqing Foreign Language School’s characteristic activities, the overseas summer camp and winter camp as well as students’ overseas studies.
Fourth of all, school leaders from other brother schools in Anqing City presented their international education exchange situation respectively. In the meantime, student Cai Haiyue and other 3 students acted as the on-site interpreters.
Fifth of all, the gentle Korean Professor Madam Zhao Chenghui from Hefei College shared her experience and feelings in teaching Korean of more than 20 years since she first arrived at Hefei College in 1996 in fluent Chinese. She suggested Anqing Foreign Language School set up Korean courses to expand exchange and cooperation between Anqing Foreign Language School and Hefei College.
Last but not the least, Section Chief Fang Min with Municipal Education& Sports Bureau summarized the seminar, affirmed Anqing Foreign Language School’s leadership status in international education exchange in Anqing City and wished Anqing Foreign Language School would go much further and do better in international education communication!
